Our team

The talented individuals who make up Innovative Youth with Action Uganda dedicated and compassionate team each bring unique expertise and experiences to the organization. Though everyone serves a different role, each person is committed to helping transform lives of poor, marginalized, and vulnerable people in Eastern and Northern parts of Uganda.

1. Executive Committee

IYAU has a General Assembly constituting of the members of the Association who have fully paid up their registration and subscription fees. The General Assembly is convened once every year at a date, place and time as may be determined by the Executive Committee. There is an Executive Committee (Board of Directors) constituting of founder members of the Association and other elected members by the General Assembly. The Board is the supreme governing body of the Association, to oversee the Association and act as a guardian to the Association with whom the assets and property of the Association is entrusted. The Board of Directors currently is comprised of the following; The Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Patron, Advisor, and two members. A member is co-opted as is deemed necessary by the Board.

Ms. Angiro Esther, Chairperson
Esther holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies which she received from Uganda Christian University and completed a certificate in administrative law which she received from Uganda Law Development Centre.

Ms. Apolot Winnie, Vice-Chairperson
Winnie received her undergraduate degree in procurement and logistics from Kyambogo University

Ms. Kabonesa Agnes, Secretary to the Executive Committee and Executive Director
Agnes is a former child bride, teaching professional of English Language and Literature, she volunteered for over four years with World Vision Uganda under Advocacy campaigning towards Ending Violence Against Children especially child marriages, child sacrifices and violence in schools. Agnes holds a bachelors of Arts With Education (English Major and Literature) which she received from Uganda Christian university; she is a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow Appalachian State University in which she received her Certificate in Civic Leadership and Community Engagement. She is currently pursuing MA in Women and Gender Studies from University of Western Cape (Mandela Rhodes Fellow). She is passionate about Children’s Rights, Youth and development, Women and Girls issues and her long term goal is to have a Children’s Educational and Sports Centre, a Community College for young people who have dropped out of school to learn vocational skills.

Ms. Amaro Betty, Treasurer
Betty holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (accounting option) which she obtained from Kumi University.

Mirna Franic, Patron
Mirna is an innovative, logical and critical thinker with strong analytical and people skills, eager to learn and self-improve. She has over nine years of project coordination experience in a UN organization, coordinating and overseeing teams and working with various tracking systems. Mirna holds Master of Arts in Communication for Development, Malmo University, Master of Arts in Government and Politics, St. John’s University (Rome, Italy) Minor in Public Administration and Certificate in International Law and Diplomacy Nature of studies: Governments and politics, political economy, Middle Eastern politics, public administration, international law, international relations, diplomacy. She also received her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, John Cabot University (Rome, Italy) Nature of studies: Political analysis, international affairs, international organizations, public international law, economics (micro, macro, international), European history, comparative politics.

Stephen Obore, Member
Stephen is a qualified food scientist and processor with a great love and passion for food processing technologies and food value addition and love to use his knowledge and skills to boost the livelihood of poor communities. Stephen received his bachelors of food science and processing technologies, food processing and value addition from Kyambogo University. He is currently the founder and CEO of Oreey Beverages Limited.

Ms. Agnes Kabonesa, Executive Director

Ms. Akoromit Anne Grace, Programmes Manager
Grace holds a bachelor of agricultural science and entrepreneurship which she obtained from Uganda Christian university. She has carried out research on the introduction of various crops species from Kawanda Research Institute National Agricultural Research Laboratories (NARL-Kawanda).

Sarah holds a bachelor degree in business administration which she attained from Kumi University, and she is also currently pursuing a post graduate diploma in financial management from Uganda management institute.

Mr. Apetu Joseph, Grants and Partnerships Coordinator
Joseph understands his calling in life to be- to help people ‘Align their perspective to truth’. This truth is the truth about who they are, what they are capable of and how to overcome what truly holds them back, he has been working to fulfil that calling over the past five years. Joseph holds a bachelors of arts degree in social works and social administration which he attained from Kumi University. He is also a 2016 Young African Leaders Initiative Fellow, Regional Leadership Center, Nairobi, East Africa, Kenyatta University in which he obtained his Business and Entrepreneurship certificate. He also holds a certificate in project planning and management which he obtained from the center for entrepreneurship, leadership, and business management development (CELBMD Africa). He has geared his efforts and passion in working with development partners and the youth towards changing their mindsets from Job seekers to Job creators, harnessing youth energy, potential and talent in the positive direction through youth friendly trainings and activities and helping those who are vulnerable and being at the service of the community.

Ms. Jenifer Anyango, Program Officer
Jennifer obtained her undergraduate degree in Social works and Social Administration from Uganda Christian University and a diploma in Social works from Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development. She is also currently a program officer for Human rights and Social justice program.

Mr. Ebobu Walter, Program Officer, Environment and sustainable agricultural production
Walter holds a diploma in agriculture (crop) which he received from Busitema University. He is currently the program officer of Environment and sustainable agricultural production.
